Pokemon Park
Made by MagicaVoxel
Individual project. Nov 12, 2018

Modelling
MagicaVoxel needs users to attach cubes one by one. It took me a long time to fix details because characters must keep symmetry and proper ratios.
I made the ground first, then added shrines and decorations. I created Pokemon on separate files and imported them into the main scene. In the end, I added more Sakura pink cubes in the sky to make the scene more attractive.

Inspiration&Illustration
Pokemon was my favourite anime and video game which filled my childhood. I am very proud of seeing how the Pokemon video games developed from pixelated Game Boy version to current 3D style. I decided to make a pixelated Pokemon park which stands for my childhood memories.
I sketched some pixelated Pokemon using Pixilart first. This step could help me to generate a rough outline of different characters before I started 3D modelling.

Jubilee Church
Made by SketchUp&MAYA
Groupl project. Oct 18, 2017

My Role
My role in this 4 people group was to finish the three curves and those curved glass windows on the top. I was also responsible for calculating the building ratios.
Feedback
Got the highest-grade A++. This model was collected by the professor and shown to students for the following semesters.
Physical Model
Before starting digital version, we made physical model first and then used multiview plans from Jubliee Church official website for references. Finally, the decision was to make a 1:150 ratio model.
The challenge was we could not find interior plans. To figure this out, we used Google Map to be the basis and added our imaginations.

Researching & Sketching
To understand more about the building spaces and layouts, we searched images of the exterior from multiple views.
We also used Google Map to view 360° degree image of the interior and tried to use our spatial thinking skills to sketch some meaningful scenes that could help us to learn the building structure.
Digital Modelling & Challenge
Physical model gave us more data and the experiences were used into the digital modelling. The biggest challenge was still the three curves. I used the front and top view floor plans to calculate the circular arc radius and used the “guideline” tool in Sketchup to finish each curve.

1. Making basic parts first.

2. Adding glasses on walls.

3. Creating more details.

4. Putting props into the building.

5. Adding more details.

6. All done!

Chinese Courtyard
Made by MAYA
Individual project. Apr 28, 2017

Introduction
This is an individual MAYA project. I like Chinese cultures, so during my holidays, I finished this Chinese traditional courtyard. I started from online researches, then I used my imaginations to perfect design details.

Researching
I have never lived in a real Chinese courtyard before, so I searched examples online to be my references.
Sketching
Based on examples, I used my own understanding to sketch more versions which could help me to model it from different angles.
Texture
Paper cut is one of the features in Chinese traditional culture. I used UV editor to generate texture for this building.
Rendering Test
To test render image and texture qualities, I made a simple version first. The lightning and materials could not show very well in MAYA, so from the render image I could notice some invisible issues.
Adding Elements
Developed the simple version and added details. More rooms, red lanterns and plants. Inside rooms, I created furniture to make the scene more perfectly.

Coffee Shop
Made by MAYA
Individual project. Mar 15, 2019

Texture
Textures were added by Substance Painter. I exported my MAYA objects to fbx files and added images, colors and textures on them.

Researching
I searched coffee shop color palettes to decide my dominant hues and I found the real hand-drawing style coffee shop which is in Korea.

Modelling
I used MAYA to create objects first. I started from the stair part to decide the whole room's size and layout. Then I added more parts.

Render Effect
After finished modelling, I used Arnold Toon Shader to add the hand-painted effect style on models.
